Newtown, CT. In Newtown, all directions are given in relation to "The Flag Pole", which is right in the center of town. If they are not, invariably the person receiving the directions will ask, "Where is that in relation to the Flag Pole?". The Flag Pole was erected in 1876, and I am sure people have hit it because there is no traffic light on it, but I have never heard of anyone smashing into it, and it looks like new to this day. Flagpole Realty is at right.
